According to a study conducted by the Standish group in 2009, only 32 % of all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects were successful. They were delivered on time, on budget and with required features and function. 44% were challenged with being late, over budget and with fewer features. 24% failed and were cancelled prior to completion or delivered without being used.

Information minister, Mr. Labaran Maku, who hinted this, said the approval which was given at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday followed a memo presented by President Goodluck Jonathan himself, following the need to acquire160,000 Smart Card Readers in order  to authenticate the permanent voter card at the polling units during the 2015 general elections.

Why is tourism contributing marginally to the fortunes of this country and why is it that even those that come for business travel do not take out time to actually explore the tourism opportunities of this country? My understanding is that we have not made tourism a major goal in this country. We have not even started nurturing our historical and anthropological assets to position them to become attractive.
